Stop what you’re doing. The trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens has been released

Earlier this week, J J Abrams announced via Twitter that we’d get to see a glimpse of Star Wars: The Force Awakens this week, and finally we can! So stop whatever you’re doing and watch this.

When it was announced that there was a new Star Wars film in the works, people were naturally skeptical. And to be honest, after the absolute train wreck that was Episode 1, it would be perfectly natural to be one of those skeptics. I mean come on, Jar Jar Binks was one of the worst things to ever happen to such a beloved franchise. I’ve always remained hopeful though, partly because I’m a glass is half full kind of guy, but mainly because I’ve always loved Star Wars, and couldn’t bare the thought of waiting this many years only to be disappointed.

People were also a bit funny about the fact that Disney now own the rights, but personally I think this is a good thing. People freaked out when they bought Marvel, but look at what they have done with that. The entire Marvel cinematic universe has completely changed the way superhero movies are made, and I’ve been queuing up to see each new installment.

Anyway, back to The Force Awakens. The trailer is only 88 seconds long and¬†doesn’t give much away as far as the storyline is concerned, but what did you expect? It still had more than enough to get me all sorts of excited though – stormtroopers, some weird rolling ball droid, a triple-ended red lightsaber, and the Millennium flippin’ Falcon!

I don’t care what anyone says, I cannot wait for this film. Now excuse me while I watch the trailer over and over again, on repeat.

May the force be with you.
