Five things you should be listening to this weekend (Vol. 20)

I’m particularly hyped this week, because we finally got around to booking our flights to New York! For the next few months I’ll be reading up on everything I can get my hands on, so if you’ve been to New York and have any tips, feel free to send them my way! Maybe I’ll send you a postcard or something. Anyway, enough about that, let’s get down to business with some new music. Here are my five things you should be listening to this weekend.

Tame Impala – Let It Happen

Tame Impala released an epic, 8 minute long song this week, the first track from the follow up to their amazing 2012 album, Lonerism. As if that wasn’t enough to whet their fans’ appetites, the band also announced an upcoming tour – nice.

Honne – Coastal Love

Honne are definitely up there with my favourite emerging bands from last year, and Coastal Love is yet another smooth, soulful track that you’ll struggle to get out of your head. Their next EP is due to be released on 4th May, so keep an eye out for that.

Shura – 2Shy

2Shy is the latest single from Shura, an up and coming half British, half Russian singer from London. Shura’s stripped back, breathy vocals work perfectly with the 90s pop/RnB vibes this track has.

Ben Khan – 1000

British soul favourite Ben Khan comes out swinging on 1000, the first single from his upcoming EP, which will be released on 11th May. People have already drawn similarities between Ben and Jai Paul, which is understandable – both have managed to perfectly mix soul, blues, synth and a few other bits and pieces to create some truly great music. Not a bad thing, if you ask me.

Astronomyy – All I Need (Feat. Denai Moore)

We’re going to slow things down for my final pick this week, with the latest release from Worcestershire native, Astronomyy. All I Need is a chilled, piano fulled RnB track which features vocals from Denai Moore, who you may remember from SBTRKT’s track, The Light.
