So last weekend the clocks went forward, signalling the beginning of British Summer Time. Aside from it being slightly lighter at night, the whole “summer time” thing seems to have eluded us, as it’s been cold, rainy and pretty miserable this week. Fear not though, as now we’ve got a four day weekend, and I’ve rounded up some of the best new music so you don’t have to. Here are my five things you should be listening to this weekend.
Tei Shi – Go Slow
Fresh of the back of a pretty successful trip to SXSW, Brooklyn’s Tei Shi released Go Slow, the latest track from her upcoming EP, Verde. Go Slow is pure, downtempo, synthy goodness, perfect for winding things down at the end of a night.
Ben Khan – Zenith
Ben Khan’s latest release, Zenith, comes hot on the heels of 1000, which I featured on here a few weeks ago. As anticipation continues to build for his debut EP, Ben is off on a European tour, which will be hitting the UK on 12th April.
Tom Misch – Brazilian Love
Tom Misch has been quiet over the past few weeks, which if past experience is anything to go by, means he has something special in the works. Either that or he’s just been busy, who knows. Anyway, this week he dropped Brazilian Love, which will be featured on his upcoming project, Beat Tape 2. This track is like some weird hip hop/bossa nova hybrid, and I can’t stop listening to it.
Toro Y Moi – Run Baby Run
Toro Y Moi returns this month with his fourth full-length release, What For? Run Baby Run is the latest track to be dropped from this new album, and has some clear retro influences throughout. Nice and mellow, it’s pretty hard not to love this.
Jamie XX – Loud Places (Feat. Romy)
We’re going to round things off today with the latest single from Jamie XX’s upcoming album. Loud Places features vocals from none other than The xx’s Romy Madley-Croft and shows just how versatile Jamie really is. Enjoy.
