Five things you should be listening to this weekend (Vol. 39)

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, but I’m not going to bore you with excuses. It’s Friday, the week is almost over, and you need some new music to soundtrack your weekend. Simple. Here are my five things you should be listening to this weekend.

Kaytranada – Glowed Up (Feat. Anderson .Paak)

I’ve been developing a bit of an obsession with Anderson .Paak recently – safe to say he’s one of my favourite new artists of the past few years. So when I heard he was featuring on Kaytranada‘s upcoming album, 99.9%, I knew it was going to be good. Glowed Up definitely doesn’t disappoint.

Popcaan – Never Sober

Popcaan just sounds like summer, it’s as simple as that. Last year he helped soundtrack endless festivals, parties and BBQs with Jamie xx on Good Times. And this year he’s already been mingling with Drake on Controlla. Never Sober was actually released last year, but the video just dropped this week, and I can’t stop listening to it.

Little Simz – Heard Em Say (Freestyle)

2016 is set to be the year of Little Simz. She’s already been named on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list and is lined up to play Glastonbury in the summer. This week she released a new freestyle on her SoundCloud, which sees her flexing her vocals over an instrumental of Kanye’s Heard Em Say.

Action Bronson – Mr 2 Face (Feat. Jah Tiger & Meyhem Lauren)

Earlier this week, Action Bronson was on Late Night With Seth Meyers, cooking octopus and plugging his new mixtape, Blue Chips 7000. Don’t ask why he’s jumped from Blue Chips 2 to Blue Chips 7000. Anyway, while he was on the show he shared Mr. 2 Face. The track features Meyhem Lauren and Jah Tiger and has cranked up my excitement for Blue Chips 7000.

Skepta – Man

Finally, after months of waiting, Skepta has treated us to a taste of what to expect from his upcoming album, Konnichiwa. He also revealed the album cover, release date (6th May) and announced that Pharrell will make an appearance on the album, which can only be good news. Anyway, Man is guaranteed to get festival crowds across the country going wild this summer, watch this space.
