Five things you should be listening to this weekend (Vol. 41)

The clocks went forward last weekend, which means the countdown to summer is officially on – bring on the beer gardens and BBQs! Also, the Glastonbury lineup was finally announced, which means the best weekend of the year is just around the corner (81 days to go!). In the meantime, it’s been a great couple of weeks for new music. Here are five things you should be listening to this weekend.

Kendrick Lamar – Humble

Kendrick Lamar is back and as per usual, he’s not messing around. Last week he returned to the scene with The Heart Part 4, sending the internet into a frenzy with one simple line – “Y’all got til April the 7th to get your shit together” – new album alert? He followed that up this week with the amazing Humble, which comes with a fantastic video, directed by Dave Meyers and the Little Homies.

Calvin Harris – Heatstroke (Feat. Young Thug, Pharrell Williams & Ariana Grande)

Calvin Harris is clearly gunning for the ‘song of the summer’ title, even though it’s only March. Following on from the success of the Frank Ocean and Migos assisted Slide comes Heatstroke. The combination of Young Thug, Pharrell and Ariana Grande works on so many levels.

WizKid – Come Closer (Feat. Drake)

Calvin Harris isn’t going to get the title without a fight though – not if WizKid and Drake have anything to do with it. After working together on Drake’s One Dance, Come Closer sees the pair team up again for a track that’s guaranteed to get people dancing.

Tom Misch – Feeling (Feat. Novelist)

Last week Tom Misch set himself a challenge – to create 5 songs, in 5 days, with 5 different artists. The end result, 5 Day Mischon, was released today and does not disappoint.

Gorillaz – Saturnz Barz (Feat. Popcaan)

Last Week Gorillaz announced their first new record since 2011, and followed this up by dropping 4 new tracks in one go, as well as announcing plans for their own festival. Unsurprisingly, the tracklisting for the new album features a ridiculous roster of guest artists, including Vince Staples, De La Soul, Danny Brown, D.R.A.M., Pusha T, RAY BLK, Carly Simon and more. Saturnz Barz features Popcaan and comes with a trippy, 360 degree video. Enjoy.
